Introduction From 2 to 6 March 2016, HLTTV will conduct the 2016 Tour de Transplant, a 5 day cycling challenge covering 600km, where participants goal is to raise money for the Second Chance Accommodation Program. A second Tour to help those with a second chance at life!
Why 600km? To reflect the 600 regional Victorian and interstate heart and lung transplant recipients who have needed accommodation since transplants began at The Alfred Hospital, Melbourne in 1989.
The route will take us from Melbourne to Warrnambool, where we start our journey and then along the Great Ocean Road from Warrnambool to Port Campbell, Apollo Bay, Lorne, Angelsea and Bells Beach, with a few challenging detours along the way. Finally we head to Geelong before the last stretch to Melbourne.
The Tour will be led by Australian cycling legend Phil Anderson. This extraordinary event will be a once in a lifetime chance to spend 5 days in the company of one of Australia’s true sporting champions and pioneers. All expenses, including food, accommodation and merchandise are included in the minimum target costs with participants strictly limited to a maximum of 30 riders. Meet Phil here
Participants will be required to pay a registration fee and commit to raising further funds for HLTTV's Second Chance Accommodation Program.
