Stage 1 Warrnambool to Port Campbell 79km

After a light lunch we take to the road which is a little hilly as we leave the outskirts of Warrnambool heading generally south east riding on rural laneways.  An area known for its dairy means it is pretty open pastureland famous for the strength of the wind.
Generally it should be assisting us as we catch glimpses of the rugged coastline over our right shoulder, however it won’t be until nearly the 60km point when we find ourselves riding along the cliff tops.  From here to Port Campbell there are a number of spots worth stopping briefly to take in the wonderful vistas.  Bay of Islands at 57km is a personal favourite of Phil’s, although London Bridge 10km further is also worthy of a stop.  From here it is a nice decent to where we are staying for the night at the ever so comfortable Southern Ocean Villas in Port Campbell.
